PHYSICS 1E3 - ALL SECTIONS

FINAL EXAM

All sections of Physics 1E03 will write the same exam. The exam will be 3 hours long. Locations depend on your name; see the posted schedules. Any accomodations or special requests will be handled by the Registrar; start by asking at Engineering Student Services in JHE-A214.

The exam is the same format as the midterm tests, but twice as long: 18 multiple-choice questions and 8 reasonably short problems. The problems will require clear and complete solutions, sometimes including the derivation of formulae and results from basic principles. Topics from the entire course are included, right up to and including the final lecture, with approximately equal emphasis on all parts of the course, from beginning to end.

The multiple-choice questions will be answered on OMR scan sheets and graded by computer. You must carefully follow the instructions on the front page of the exam paper to ensure that you receive credit for your work. Note particularly:

The eight problems on the exam are to be answered directly on the exam paper. Clear and complete solutions are required. Examination papers are not returned to students, so you may write solutions in pencil. You are not allowed any notes, but a sheet of formulae will be included as the last page of the exam. It will be up to you to know under what conditions the formulae can be used; you should use the sheet just to remind yourself of details you have already learned. The sheet will certainly not contain all of the information you need for the exam.

We remind you to read the rules, which will be enforced by invigilators hired by the Registrar, not by your instructor. In particular, note that you must bring your student card; only the offical calculator is allowed; and that no portable phones, pagers, or other beeping or communicating devices are allowed in the exam hall. You must not arrange your papers or scan sheets to allow other students to read your answers during the exam, and the invigilators will watch for this.

Get a good night's sleep before the exam, your brain will work better. Good luck.
