Welcome To Physics & Astronomy Outreach At McMaster

The Department of Physics & Astronomy hosts many outreach events and programs (listed below) for elementary and secondary school students, and the general public. If you have questions, please contact us at physics@mcmaster.ca

Teachers of elementary and secondary science are encouraged to explore the following opportunities:

    • W.J. McCallion Planetarium – Learn about the planets, solar system and the galaxy during shows projected on the inner surface of a dome, mimicking the movements of the night sky
    • Let’s Talk Science – Hands-on/minds-on activities for students from Kindergarten to Grade 12, on all Science related subjects
    • Nuclear Reactor Tours Take a tour of the McMaster Nuclear Reactor – by far the most powerful research reactor at a Canadian university
    • Origins Institute Public Lecture Series – Lectures open to the public about the most fundamental topics in science, including space-time, structure in the Cosmos, the origins of chemical elements, and the beginnings of life, species and consciousness
    • Sidewalk Astronomy – Check out the stars with the help of the Department of Physics & Astronomy
