Student Funding and Travel Grants

The $35 registration fee covers all food, activities, and accommodations during the weekend. Unfortunately, CCUWiP cannot completely cover your travel expenses as well.

We will be giving out travel grants for those in need, however, these will only be available if you provide an official letter from your physics department that confirms the fact that they cannot cover your travel costs. For the overwhelming majority of participants, their departments are able to cover most of the costs, and we strongly encourage you to inquire about this as early as possible. Here are some suggestions of people to contanct/ask at your school:

  • physics department chair
  • department administrators
  • physics/science professors
  • academic advisors
  • student success centre or equivalent
  • dean of science

If these contacts are unable to support your travel, don’t give up! You can look into special programs your university’s societies or student unions may offer for funding special opportunities – these will often fund travel to CCUWiP.

If you cannot get as much funding as you need from the above sources, please contact us at We will do our best to help you get funding from your university or elsewhere, and if that doesn’t work, we will help you ourselves. Please do everything you can to try and find support yourself first - CCUWiP is entirely funded by outside sponsorships, so we cannot guarantee grants.

Most of CCUWiP 2017 will be held at McMaster University, which is located on 1280 Main St. West, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. More information can be found here.

We have booked rooms at the Crowne Plaza for attendees needing accomadations. We will be meeting here for initial registration, leaving each morning for the McMaster campus and then returning from McMaster via chartered bus. The grad fair and banquet dinner will also be held at the Crowne Plaza. For more details on when we will be at the hotel refer to the conference program.

If arriving from Pearson Intl. Airport, you can take the #40 GO bus to the Hamilton GO Centre. From Union, you can take the #16 Express GO bus, which makes multiple stops in Hamilton.
