Basic information for NGLS data web site ======================================== This web site contains data, plots, and information for CO J=3-2 observations of the 155 galaxies in the JCMT Nearby Galaxies Legacy Survey. Further information about the data processing can be found in Warren et al. (2010), ApJ, 714, 571 and further information concerning the survey will be found at Wilson et al. (2012, MNRAS, in prep.). At the current time the exact parameters of the SCUBA-2 portion of the NGLS remain to be determined. No SCUBA-2 data are available yet on this web site and SCUBA-2 observing has not yet begun. There are two main directories in this web site: Source_Lists ------------ This directory contains 5 simple text files which list the galaxies which make up the NGLS sample. The lists are divided into - Field galaxies (diameters < 4 arcmin) - Virgo galaxies (diameters < 4 arcmin) - small SINGS galaxies (diameters < 4 arcmin, SINGS_1.list) - large SINGS galaxies (SINGS_2_*.list) There are two files for the SINGS_2 subset as the area to be mapped may be different with SCUBA-2 than with CO 3-2 (HARP-B). Data_and_Plots -------------- The data from the most recent reduction and calibration can be found in the directory v2-0. Older versions of the data are also available but should not be used for new analysis. The data inside this directory is organized by subsample (Field, Virgo, SINGS2, SINGS2). There is also a directory "Notes" which contains some general information on the scripts used to process the data. Inside each subsample there is one subdirectory for each galaxy. Each galaxy subdirectory contains Data Notes Plots Data files are available both in fits format and in starlink native format (*.sdf). Below we use NGC 3627 to describe the type of data which are available. For more information on the meaning of the sigma cutoffs, see Warren et al. 2010 and Wilson et al. 2012. Images ------ NGC3627_sincsinc_totint20_noise_v2-0.fits - integrated intensity map made using a 2 sigma cutoff NGC3627_sincsinc_totint20_v2-0.fits - a first estimate of the noise per pixel in the integrated intensity map NGC3627_sincsinc_totint25_noise_v2-0.fits - integrated intensity with 2.5 sigma cutoff NGC3627_sincsinc_totint25_v2-0.fits - first estimate of noise per pixel NGC3627_sincsinc_totint30_noise_v2-0.fits - integrated intensity with 3 sigma cutoff NGC3627_sincsinc_totint30_v2-0.fits - first estimate of noise per pixel Note that the integrated intensity maps and their noise maps are in units of Ta* and should be divided by the main beam efficiency of 0.6 to convert to the more commonly used Tmb units. The noise maps are preliminary and do not include the uncertainty due to the baseline subtraction; improved noise maps will be available at some point.
