ANATOLE B. VOLKOV
VOLKOV , Dr. Anatole Boris - B.S. (North Carolina, 1948), M.S. (Wisconsin 1950), Ph.D. (Wisconsin 1953). Peacefully, in Lakeland, Florida on Tuesday, November 28, 2000, in his 77th year, after a courageous battle with cancer. He leaves behind his beloved and devoted wife of 50 years, Pearl. Very dear father of Lisa of Toronto, Mark (Brenda) of Dundas and adoring grandfather of Julia , Monica and Alexandra. Also fondly remembered by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Joyce Liebman of Yorktown Heights, New York. Anatole was a professor of Theoretical Nuclear Physics at McMaster University from 1964 until his retirement in 1988. A noted scholar and teacher, humanist, avid reader, passionate devotee of music and the arts, golfer, fisherman and above all dedicated to the well being of his family and friends. He will be missed by all who were touched by his generosity and humour. Cremation and a private memorial will take place in Florida. Memorial donations can be made to the Volkov Memorial Fund at McMaster University (Gilmour Hall, Room 110) or to the Good Shepherd Centre in Hamilton.
